Lambdadelta, Witch of Certainty (

R5 side...thing??? with
finalring because we can't be stopped.
[Lambdadelta has known about a certain fragment for countless years.
The Sea of Fragments is vast, and a Voyager Witch has endless time - perhaps that's what caused her to stumble upon that singular fragment at just the right point in it's time three thousand years in relation to the present day within it.
The odds of such an occurrence were astronomical, of course - but they still happened, regardless. And with that Fragment in her hands, she watched a single human very closely. A Young - only 15 years old! - King, as he had to order the execution of his own family member.
She whispered to him, asking if he had the resolve to see himself rule.
There was no response, but he proved it anyway.
For a while, she watched - both out of interest and out of respect to the Creator of the Fragment, who was clearly interfering in their own ways. No sense in pushing anything, after all, and it seemed like they were fine with her little pokes here and there.
...Until that Creator suddenly decided to be way more hands off, giving that same King a job to do.
That was when she pounced, inviting him to her own place. Being so impressed with him refusing a wish from her that she granted him her certainty regardless, saying that as long as his will never faltered, what his God wanted from him would never fail.
Of course, their meetings didn't end there. There was a certain joy in inviting a Human to play games with her - though as time went on, she noticed he began to slip from Humanity's grasp...and approached something a little like a Witch, but never fully committed.
...Which of itself was a little sad, because she knew he'd never truly become one. He didn't have the aptitude for it, and he'd very quickly die of boredom. So he'd have to languish in this half state for however long he lived.
She would, with certainty, miss him when he finally passed on.
But that was now in the past - because now, he'd returned to a human state, in a visage that almost reminded her of how he looked like the first time she'd ever whispered to him, testing his resolve.
So, after about halfway into the week, she waited until he was asleep...and called him to her once more.
As before, he wakes up in her room, amidst all her cutesy decor - at a table, with a cup of tea set in front of him, as she sits across him with a smile.]
...Enjoying yourself, Solomon? Oops, my bad - it's Romani Archaman now, isn't it?

inside the house, sleep came to him very little and with many interruptions, as the anxiety in his heart would keep him awake by means of nightmares and demons that were nothing like the ones he captured three thousand years back.
and yet this time...when he opened his eyes, he was in a place that was both different and yet familiar all at the same time. his stomach twisted itself into yet another knot, as he stared at the cup of tea on the table.
and then at the witch whose attention he had piqued three millennia ago. ]
Lady Lambdadelta. [ he takes the tea in his hand, only for the sake of pleasantries. he had no desire to drink it yet. ] I'm surprised you'd visit.

[She laughs, but her eyes never leave his face.]
Unless you've forgotten our past together along with regaining your humanity? That'd be so saaaaaaad~ I'd sob for days on end, mourning the loss of all those years...I think I even feel some of those tears right now, you know?
[...Yet, her eyes are as dry as ever - and she claps her hands, once.]
Anyway! Do you know why I called you here, Romani-kun?

[ as friendly as it can be with witches. in a way, it reminds romani of walking through a field of thorns, or perhaps like walking a tightrope. one wrong move could get you pulled apart limb by limb, or maybe you'll be the one doing the dismemberment.
whatever is necessary to keep a witch entertained. it's something he never understood, but he supposes that it's because his purpose required him to take a different route. the route that He had put him on when he was merely fifteen years old.
but then again, she had come to him before He had...so could it be that it was her that put him on the path he was in now? did she wind him up and then set him loose, watching him stumble and twirl for three thousand years? he wouldn't put it past her, actually.
with that in mind, he takes his first sip of the tea. ]
If I had to say...it's probably related to the situation I'm in, right? We're stuck inside the house, with no way out. [ he looks at his cup with a troubled expression--he truly does feel like he's 15 again, confused and lost on what to do, with no clear goal ahead. ] Although if this were your board that I was pushed into, I'd be surprised. It sounds more like something Lady Bernkanstel would do.

She giggles, a soft sound - nothing like the cruel laughter he's heard her do before.]
You say something like that so easily, you know? Being able to count yourself as one of my friends is a feat many in both heaven and hell would rip off an arm for....ah, but I guess that casualness is what I like about you! You might be a coward normally, but you've never let yourself cower in front of me, have you? How insolent! ....Is what I'd say if I were some kind of old queen in a drama~
[She summons up a small tray of cookies, picking one up between two fingers.]
Sorry to disappoint you, but this isn't one of my boards. It's something that's homespun by your fragment - if I had anything to do with it, I wouldn't go so 'oldschool' at the start!
[She points the cookie at him, suddenly.]
No - I thought I'd revisit an old question.
"Do you want a single wish granted?"

[ he says this with his brows knit together in frustration. not towards the witch-- she was only doing as usual. and in a time where everything was upside down, even his conversation felt like something familiar.
he yearned for that type of familiarity, at this point.
romani saw himself staring at lambdadelta, witch of certainty, the same way he had done so three thousand years ago. he had been younger then, but the ways of the world had already jaded him in a way that no fifteen year old--no matter from which time they came from--would have been. now, after so long, he felt the additional baggage of time, wisdom, and responsibility atop his shoulders, heavy like bags of rocks.
in the back of his head, he considered the idea of saying yes. yes, he'd wishes to leave. yes, he'd wishes to save everyone. yes, he wishes for things to be alright. there are so many things on his mind that he can imagine wishing for...
but those would all be insults to Him, the one that gave him his task all those years ago. romani knew that he had been given this task because he was capable. and if that's the case, then this too, is a test that he is capable of solving--even if he doesn't know how to find the solution yet.
but it's out there, somewhere.
sighing, he looks away from the witch and to the side...then turns back towards her, green eyes weary and a small, sad smile on his lips. ]
I apologize, Lady Lambdadelta, because I'll have to turn down your offer once more. I believe that this is still something that I can solve on my own. It may be foolish and arrogant to believe it, but giving up after all this time...I believe I'd be letting down those who have watched over me-- including you.

[There's a bit of a hard edge, but still nothing too cruel in it - more that she's trying to gauge how he is, what he's thinking.
Though she is herself, she is also one that judges the inner self. The Wants, the Desires, and gauges if she'll deign to grant them.
She purses his lips at his rejection, yet again, before taking a rough bite of the cookie.]
Geeze....you're really stubborn, you know? I hardly ever ask humans twice, and you're going to deny me both times? I mean, we had fun the last times I granted your other requests, right?
[Those times when he had no other recourse except her, and the price was to become a piece of hers for a 'short period' on some other gameboard far away from here.]
Hm...but you're right, it would be reaaaaaaaaa~ly disappointing if you begged me right after begging your Creator to make you human again. It'd be like spitting in their face, and little faithful you can't allow that.
...It's just a bit boring in the end.
[....Sorry if that phrase sets off any PTSD, romani.]

[ he pouts, almost mirroring her expression as he takes a cookie of his own.
how could he forget his lack of humanity? even now, his human self feels like a strange skin that he can’t quite fit into or like relearning how to ride a bicycle after years of not even seeing one. the concept of humanity had become something foreign and different to solomon.
being surrounded by so many of the 6350s, those who could almost be described as human... well, it only showed how far he had been left behind. how much his “self” had warped under millennia. even now, romani could barely deem himself a “human”.
but he does turn a bit red at her second comment, choking slightly on the tea. at least that helps him not focus on the shiver that runs down his spine when she mentions his resolve being boring. ]
W-what!? I wasn’t begging! I didn’t even believe he was listening to me! He hadn’t spoken to me in almost five decades, how was I supposed to— [ he cuts himself short. right. wisdom. he sets the tea cup down, sighing. ] Nevermind.
no subject
No~pe, I watched the whole thing! Giving a prayer to your Creator, even if you thought he wasn't listening, is ~ still ~ begging ~!
Aw, but don't look so upset! There's nothing wrong with a little pleading, you know? You could honestly stand to do it a little more, *cackle!*
[She takes her own sip of tea, resting her head on her hands with her elbows on the table, leering over.]
Ah, but - regardless of that...how are you enjoying the people with you? Especially, say...the Ushiromiyas?
[...That smile...is a bit....
It's the one she wears when she's got something she's keeping secret. A Play, a trick, something.]
no subject
[ however, his eyebrows do raise when she mentions the ushiromiyas. both battler who had greatly piqued his interest, and rosa who he had brought for the sake of bringing someone. it's a bitter pill to swallow, but he had considered rosa to become a sacrifice if it was necessary. and battler's ability was beyond just 'useful'.
but the fact that lambdadelta was bringing them up... ]
Battler's a very special man. I would like to see more of his ability, but the fact that he is unaware of it makes me wary. What will happen if he's pushed too far? That's something I'd rather not find out. And as for Rosa...I haven't spoken to her yet, but she seems like a pleasant woman.
[ ... ]
Is their appearance in this world your doing?
no subject
P-Pleasant woman...! Ahahahahahaha! You're just as bad as ever with people, huh~?
[Ahahaha.wav for a few more moments, before she straightens up and wipes her eyes.]
Aaahh...anyway, I'm not going to say if I did or if I didn't~ That being said, Battler's a stubborn idiot, so you'll have to keep a close eye on him - and Rosa...well, you'll find out sooner or later what she's like, *giggle.*
But I have run a game before with them as Pieces, so take my advice, okaaaaay?
no subject
[ it's so difficult to keep his emotions hidden now, the way he is. which is why, at her laughter, he feels his face turn red with the embarrassment of being made fun of. it's not like had to be reminded about how bad his people skills were, even after three thousand years!!!
although it's not like all that time alive made it any better. if anything, he'd say it made it worse. but the fact that she wasn't telling if she intervened or not was definitely irritating.
and the fact that they were her pieces at one point... he couldn't help but pity them, somewhat.
he nods. ]
Absolutely. Your advice has always been very helpful and I'm always grateful for it. Hopefully it won't be that bad.
[ if only romani could believe his words in the first place. ]
